Who doesn’t love to cuddle a newborn lamb on lambs day?

I love these beautiful winter days when you can feel springtime is coming. What could be cuter than seeing, feeding, and cuddling newborn lambs, how lovely is that? I love to visit a lambs day and cuddle a newborn lamb.

When winter is passing by the time of year starts that lambs are born. I find this time of year so nice, it really makes me happy to see these lovely little lambs walking along the sheep. Sometimes you can see the lambs already in January but that is very early. Normally lambs are born from February till April. It is a real feeling of spring when lambs start jumping around in the meadows.

What is a lambs day?

A lamb day can best be described as a maternity visit for lambs. These lamb days are often organized on sheep farms for newborn lambs. On lamb day, you can visit the new lambs. It differs per farm what you are allowed to do. But you are probably allowed to do this, among other things:
1. Cuddling lambs.
2. Helping care for lambs.
3. Walks on the farm and in the immediate vicinity.
4. And sometimes even attending a lamb delivery.

Where to go on lamb day?

Where is it possible to see and cuddle lambs? In the Netherlands, there are many places where you can watch, feed and cuddle lambs. For example at sheep farms, petting zoos, sheepfolds, and other locations. On the website of Nature Monuments, there is an overview of locations where these special lambs days are organized.

Biological product to buy

On some farms, it is possible to buy organic sheep products such as milk, cheese, wool, and meat. There are sheep farms where sheep cheese is made from full creamy sheep’s milk in a truly traditional way. crafted by hand. There is plenty of space on sheep farms to enjoy nature and take a walk in the area.

Sheep are often kept on children’s farms in addition to chickens and rabbits. For a petting zoo, a particularly exciting time is when the sheep are pregnant. Everyone is excited and awaiting the births. In the spring, when lambs are born, you can cuddle at the petting zoo and help take care of the lambs.
