A small impression of celebrating King’s Day

0
By Henneke on 27 May 2022 King's Day

Better come and party with us on King’s Day every year, everybody is welcome. Get yourself some orange clothes and some orange accessories. And if you don’t have them or you don’t like the color orange, no problem, come as yourself. To give you an idea of our biggest festivity of the year we give you a small impression of the great feast of King’s Day.

A King’s Day to remember

This year, the Netherlands celebrated King’s Day on April 27 as usual: ‘It was a big party “A King’s Day to remember.

Kingsdag Rotterdam 2023

➔ The Best way to watch a small impression of Kingsday Rotterdam is to look at NOS nieuws

After 2 years of little to no festivities during the celebration of King Willem-Alexander because of the Corona Pandemic. King’s Day was celebrated, as usual, this year in Maastricht. Maastricht turned out great and showed all the ins and outs of the city. Now that all restrictions have been removed, the Dutch again flocked to free markets, festivals, and other King’s Day events.

Doesn’t she look lovely? Orange suits the Dutch so well.

The king himself celebrated his 55th birthday in Maastricht, together with his wife Maxima and their 3 beautiful daughters, and a number of family members. King Willem-Alexander and the members of his family were welcomed on the bridge by the mayor of Maastricht, Annemarie Penn-te Strake, and the governor of Limburg, Emil Roemer. 44 children, representing the 44 Maastricht neighborhoods, reach the flowers. From the bridge, the family had a beautiful view of the boat fireplace with hundreds of boats and boats from the Maastricht water sports associations. After the bridge, the group turned left towards Vissersmaas and walked past the statue of the Mestrechter Geis, the spirit of Maastricht. Symbol of the Maastricht national character: agile, flexible, sometimes elusive, but always optimistic. So will a short show on the square: nimble, flexible, and exclusive.

Program Kingsday Maastricht 2022

The royal family danced to the music of internationally famous DJ couple Lucas and Steve. Admired a musical spectacle with the strings of the South Netherlands Philharmonic. Enjoyed a performance by the world-famous André Rieu. The Netherlands has many dialects and Maastricht also has its own dialect. The royal family was tested in this by means of a Maastricht language quiz. Willem-Alexander and Amalia struck a golden tenner during the festivities. But see for yourself by watching this little impression below.

Route King’s Day 2022 Maastricht

Maybe you’d like to walk the same route that the royal family walked on King’s Day 2022? If you do, then follow the route below and be surprised by the beautiful Maastricht. Maastricht residents are extremely friendly and helpful. What you should definitely do during your walk through Maastricht is to eat a real Limburg pie named “Vlaai”, remember this, it’s an absolute must.
The best vlaai (pie) you get at bakery De Bisschopsmolen, Bakkerij Hermans, and SoDelicious of Patisserie Royale.
