Kite festivals give me a huge WAAUW feeling, do you recognize this feeling? Kite festivals are awesome and so is the Kite festival on Callantsoog Beach. This is a yearly recurring festival in springtime with the most spectacular gigantic colorful breathtaking kites. Once you are on the beach of Callantsoog and the weather and wind are good, you will be amazed. As far as you can see, there are a lot of colorful and huge kites to see during the kite festival weekend, it is a true spectacle.
The Kite Festival is held on a weekend in May, on a Saturday and Sunday from 11.00 till 17.00 hours. This Kite festival is held on the North Sea Beach. Therefore during the Kite Festival, the tide is taken into account, when it is low tide and the beach is wide enough to fly the large kites. The entire beach is freely accessible to visitors and kite-flyers. The kites may not be launched higher than 100 meters high. Furthermore, the Rescue Brigade will monitor and give directions if necessary.

During the Kite Festival, kites in the form of teddy bears, cows, octopuses, birds, geese, and fish went high into the sky. There are kites from 20 to 65 meters in length. Because of the playing of the wind, the large octopuses seem to be alive.
