Do you want to rummage, for fabrics, daily or organic products? Go to the Jordaan in West Amsterdam. Here you find some of the best markets in Amsterdam. In the Jordaan, you can go bargain hunting at three markets: Noorder Market, Linden Market, and Westerstraat Market. The markets are located on historical squares and streets. I love these markets and their cafes where they serve the best Apple Pie in town.
Jordaan is the area with the best markets in Amsterdam
The Jordaan is well known for its narrow streets, characteristic houses, and picturesque canals. I love walking in this area of Amsterdam. Originally this area was a working-class neighborhood. But over the years it has developed into a trendy and lively area with numerous boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and cafés. The atmosphere in the Jordaan is cozy and authentic, and it is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. In addition to the vibrant cultural scene, the Jordaan also has a rich history. Many of the street names in the district are reminiscent of crafts and professions from the past. At the Prinsengracht, youll find the Cheese and Tulip Museum, both nice to visit.

Book your own place on one of the best markets in Amsterdam
To book a place on a regular Amsterdam market you need to register at the Chamber of Commerce first. Non-EU citizens even need a working permit as well. The procedure to get a market license is not difficult but takes time. For most markets, there is a waiting list. So after you get the market license you must apply for a place on the waiting list. But at the non-government-controlled Flea Market in IJhallen – which takes place once a month – you can rent your stand in a nonformal way as long as there are stands available.
