Hoog Catharijne, the most luxurious shopping mall in the center of the Netherlands

The biggest, largest, most luxurious, fashionable, hyper-modern, and trendy shopping mall in the Netherlands is Hoog Catharijne in the city of Utrecht. The city of Utrecht is located in the middle of our country. This totally renewed shopping mall is next to Central Station Utrecht, in the middle of the center of the city of Utrecht. You can visit the shopping mall Hoog Catharijne by foot, bicycle, car, bus, metro, and train.

If you like shopping, Hoog Catharijne s a true shopping paradise. All well-known store brands can be found here, from the cheaper Primark, Bershka, and H&M to the more expensive fashion brands such as Guess, JD sports, Nike, G star Raw, and Claudia Sträter. There are more than 110 stores in Hoog Catharijne shopping mall, so lots of opportunities to shop till you drop. If you like to spend some money this is definitely the place to be.

Hoog Catharijne shopping mall

This shopping mall is not just about fashion, but also about sustainability and diversity. These qualities are visible in the products and staff in the shops and restaurants. In Hoog Catharijne you will find shops with health and care products next to the most luxurious chocolate shop. The shops In Hoog Catharijne shopping mall you will find the most exclusive and specialized stores, there is a wide range of the most beautiful shops for fashion, beauty, jewelry, and high-tech. One of the most popular stores at this moment is the Lego store.

Restaurant and takeaways

In Hoog Catharijne there are about 30 restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious meal or have a nice takeaway. Popular catering hotspots for something to eat are Cinnabon where you can eat a delicious cinnamon roll with icing, Yogurt Barn, Hortus by Doppio where you can design your own healthy granola yogurt, Y-Yogurt, Madam Cocos with freshly baked coconut balls. But you can also find the smaller fast-food snack shop for Flemish fries, croquette, hamburgers, and tacos. My favorite restaurant in Hoog Catharijne is the Lebanese restaurant Comptoir Libanais where you can eat delicious hummus.

WiFi

In Hoog Catharijne shopping mall there is free WiFi. Log in with your smartphone, tablet, or laptop and use internet services for free.

Opening hours

The shopping mall is open every day of the week. Opening hours are on Monday from 12:00 PM to 20:00 PM, Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 AM to 20.00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 18:00 PM.

From the hyper-modern shopping mall Hoog Catharijne you walk in a straight line to the old shopping center of Utrecht. In fact, you can say that Hoog Catharijne shopping center is strategically located between the old city center and the Central Station.

Markets

Outside the shopping mall, Hoog Catharijne is Vredenburg square. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday there is a large and varied market where vegetables, fruit, bread, nuts, fish, cheese, clothing, stroopwafels, snacks, shoes, care products, and organic and local regional products are sold. On the Vredenburg square is a beautiful work of art called Markt Mosaic paved. Half a million colored and gray granite tiles were purchased from all over the world to create this mosaic artwork. The mosaic is 42 by 87 meters in size. The colored stones of the mosaic form market products such as fish, a piece of cheese, a croissant, an artichoke, and olives.

And if you can’t fulfill your shopping wishes in Hoog Catharijne, cross the Vredenburg diagonally and go to the Bijenkorf, this is the most luxurious and exclusive store in the Netherlands with an overload of luxurious products from the most exclusive international and national brands.

Parking

The city of Utrecht has the largest bicycle parking facility in the world. Under the Central Station Square, between Utrecht Central and the Hoog Catharijne shopping center, there is room for no fewer than 12,500 bicycles. Can you even imagine how many bikes that are?

Special events

On special days like Black Friday, on special events like Kingsday, when seasons change, and when sales are started, the stores, shops, and popup stores in the shopping mall are specially decorated in style. For example, at Christmas time the shopping mall is wonderfully decorated, and huge Christmas trees filled with hundreds of twinkling lights make shopping an extra special experience.

Music hall

Next to the shopping mall Hoog Catharijne is Tivoli Vredenburg Music Hall. Tivoli Vredenburg is a unique contemporary music complex for all kinds of music. Here you can enjoy pop, rock, bluegrass, country, Schlager music, classical, chamber music, jazz, underground metal, dance, hip hop, R&B, reggae concerts, and other entertainment such as sing-a-songwriter evenings, revival bands, poetry, and comedy, musical open stage evenings.
