Oh, this might be a challenge because if there is something continuously renewed, we should think of trendy terraces and hot spots in Amsterdam. Streets are renovated, restaurants disappear, and many new spots open their doors. Some nice things have been the same for years and are still fun to go to. But as always, Amsterdam is on the move and constantly renewing. The point is II have been to some awesome places with great food, lately.
Trendy Terraces and restaurants on NDSM shipyard, Amsterdam
NDSM restaurants are located in one of the nicest spots of Amsterdam with a beautiful view over the majestic waterway called “‘Het IJ”. NDSM is art, history, and culture. There is live music in the evening and all the restaurant serve great food and drinks. If you visit Amsterdam the NDSM is an absolute must, so make sure to put it on your bucket list.
How to get to NDSM? Take a small ferry behind the Central Railway Station to get there. The little trip to NDSM is already a joy in itself.
What does NDSM stand for? Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij freely translated as The Netherlands Dock and Shipbuilding Company.
Noorderlicht NDSM shipyard, Amsterdam is temporarily closed
Noorderlicht is my one and only nr 1 top terrace. Sadly it is temporarily closed for renovation. Not only the outside is special but the design inside is more than creative. Post-creative is the right qualification.

PLLEK, NDSM, AMSTERDAM
Restaurant Pllek in Amsterdam on the NDSM site claimed they are an example of what sustainability should look like now. And if you go inside Restaurant Pllek’s or duck down on the terrace, you’d have to agree with them. Restaurant Pllek is a great place to have a cup of coffee, lunch, or dinner. 75% of the menu is vegetarian. The atmosphere is more than good, the interior cozy, a fantastic fire pit, the staff is friendly and the food and drinks are delicious to super delicious. From the Pllek terrace, you have a great view of the skyline of Amsterdam. And most special, on a sunny day you can have a good time on the little beach in front of the restaurant.

IJVER, restaurant and terrace on NDSM, Amsterdam
I like all the restaurants and terraces on NDSM, they all have a nice relaxing and calm atmosphere. IJVER is just like that and is one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. Restaurant IJVER is a great place, has a nice menu, and has a friendly staff. Absolutely a lovely place to have late coffee, fresh mount tea, smoothies, lunch, or dinner. You can sit inside or outside. The terrace is on the NDSM square. If you are lucky you can actually see artists make the most beautiful, inspiring street art and graffiti. On the terrace is a huge painting of the former, most beloved mayor of Amsterdam. This painting is a tribute to this mayor who passed away some years ago.

Creperie Cocotte
A cozy romantic France pancake house on Spuistraat. This small restaurant is located in the middle of Amsterdam, in a monumental step-gabled house, how special is that? In France, they say crepes instead of pancakes. Crepes are very thin pancakes. The crepes recept is from Breton, a providence of France. The France staff speaks English and France. We had a lovely crepe with some caramelized apples and a hot fresh ginger tea, it all was very lovely.

Lovely terrace, with a great view of the IJ, across the museum Nemo. The IJ is part of the lake IJsselmeer. Hanneke serves nice food and drinks. Lots of events are organized here. A great place to let a day linger away. I just love Hanneke’s boom. Mainly young people love to spend some relaxing time here especially when the sun is shining. In the middle of the Vondelpark is a super nice cafe called “Proeflokaal ‘t Blauwe Theehuis”. It can be translated as The Blue Teahouse. On the terrace, you can enjoy Amsterdam coziness, a good cup of coffee, delicious sandwiches, pizzas, varied snacks, and freshly tapped beers from Brouwerij ‘t IJ all day long. You can also come to us to play Jeu de Boules or table tennis, but of course, it’s all about our beer. This bustling oasis is the ideal place to gather with friends.
