Lage Vuursche is a charming and adorable little village located in the province of Utrecht the Netherlands. The village is not far from the city of Utrecht and not far from the city of Hilversum and Amsterdam. The Lage Vuursche is well known for its picturesque surroundings, including lush forests, beautiful countryside, hilly landscapes, and heathland. The village has an absolutely charming atmosphere and there are several historical sites in the area.

Lage Vuursche is particularly famous for its proximity to the De Vuursche Bossen (Vuursche Forests), which are part of the larger Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. The forested area is ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and picnicking.

Castle Drakenstein
The village Lage Vuursche is also known for its historical relevance, including the presence of the Kasteel Drakenstein, a castle that was the former residence of Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands before she became queen. When the Dutch flag is out, someone from the royal family is present in the castle. The castle itself is not visible from the road. A replica of the castle is part of the Midget golf Lage Vuursche.
Pancake House
Another notable attraction in the area is the Lage Vuursche Pancake House, which is renowned for its delicious Dutch pancakes and has been a popular destination for both locals and tourists.

Golf and midget golf
The Golf Association Lage Vuursche is an exclusive and beautiful Golf Course with 18 holes. Gasts are very welcome on weekdays as Green Fee players at De Lage Vuursche golf course, a minimum handicap of 54.0 is required. It is a rule to dress correctly and to wear golf shoes with soft spikes during the game. Don’t wear a hat or cap in the bar or the restaurant. Midget Golf gardens Lage Vuursche is very popular and has the most beautiful miniature golf courses in Europe. The Midget Golf gardens are open every day from 10 am to 8 pm. The Miniature Golf Gardens in Lage Vuursche has 3 different courts, the billiard court, the clay court, and the grass court. Each course has 18 holes and the playing time is between 1 and 1.5 hours. Recreation pit Drakenstein
You’ll find the Recreation Pit Drakenstein a little bit outside the village Lage Vuursche, follow the signs to the “Kuil”, it is easy to walk to. While walking to the Recreation Pit or as we say “Kuil Drakenstein” you will pass Castle Drakenstein. Maybe you will get a glimpse of our former queen Beatrix who lives at this lovely castle.
Lumberjack festival Lage Vuursche
Throughout the year various activities are organized in the Recreation pit Drakenstein. Our favorite event is the annual, Lumberjack Festival in August. The Lumberjack Festival lasts 2 days and is celebrated on the weekend from Saturday to Sunday. The festival is free and freely accessible.
The Lumberjack Festival program contains various activities and demonstrations like tree climbing, Timber pull saw, ax throwing, chain wood stamping, archery, bushcraft spatula carving, Stihl, and an introduction to mountain biking. There is also a merry-go-round, bouncy castles, and a ball pit. There is nice live music and it is possible to put pictures on to ask. There are cozy seats on the festival site, and the nicest and tastiest food trucks are available.

Boscafe Buiten in de Kuil
In the Recreation pit is the lovely boscafe “Buiten in de Kuil” best translated as Forest cafe “Outside the Pit. This forest cafe is very popular for day trippers, lunch appointments, group meetings, athletes, cyclists, walkers, and just people looking for some peace and quietness.
